Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

A holistic, time-tested system that supports balance, health, and vitality by working with the body’s natural intelligence.

What Is Traditional Chinese Acupuncture?

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is part of a broader system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), practiced for thousands of years.

It involves the insertion of ultra-fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body — known as acupuncture points — to help restore balance, promote circulation, and regulate the flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”), often translated as “vital energy.”

Treatments are individually tailored and based on detailed consultation, which considers not just symptoms, but the whole person.

What Can It Support?

People seek Traditional Chinese Acupuncture for a wide range of concerns, including:

Muscular pain & tension – Injury rehabilitation

Sinus, headaches & migraines

Fatigue or low energy

Hormonal imbalance

Stress and emotional dysregulation

Sleep disturbance

Digestive discomfort

Menstrual or menopausal symptoms

How It Works (Modern Viewpoint)

From a modern perspective, acupuncture may work by influencing the nervous system, stimulating circulation, and modulating the body’s stress response.

Research suggests acupuncture can activate areas of the brain associated with pain, emotion regulation, and autonomic function — while also releasing natural chemicals such as endorphins.

We integrate ancient understanding with evidence-informed insights.

What to Expect in a Session

  • Initial Consultation: Includes a detailed health history and tongue/pulse diagnosis

  • Treatment: Gentle, precise needle insertion — typically 10–20 minutes of rest time

  • Other Modalities: May include cupping, moxibustion, or herbal discussion as appropriate

  • Follow-Up: Recommendations are based on your presentation and health goals

All sessions are designed to be calming, safe, and clearly communicated — consent is always obtained before beginning.

Common Questions

Does it hurt?

Most people find acupuncture to be very gentle. The needles are extremely fine — much thinner than those used for injections — and are often barely felt on insertion. Some people experience a light sensation such as tingling, dullness, or warmth, which is generally short-lived and a sign the point is activated. Any discomfort is usually minimal and brief.

What should I wear?

It’s best to wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your lower arms, lower legs, and back. Depending on your treatment plan, you may be asked to remove a layer or be offered a towel or blanket for comfort and modesty. Your privacy is always respected.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your health goals, the nature of your concern, and how your body responds to treatment. Some people feel a shift within 1–2 sessions, while others benefit from a series of treatments over time. Your practitioner will discuss a plan with you based on your individual needs and presentation.
